What is ZoomBlog?
|
|
ZoomBlog
is a complete blogging system developed by
eListas, and integrated with the
ZoomGroups project.
ZoomGroups is a service that, under a complete
"social" environment, it offers several integrated services, each of them
being quite complete on its own: email groups, contact tools, photo album,
file publishing, polls, classified and online auction services, etc.
...and now... blogs! And not just blogs but a blogging service using a modern, dynamic
administration interface that offers some very interesting possibilities.
Despite being integrated with
ZoomGroups
(in order to create a blog in
ZoomBlog you must have an account at ZoomGroups),
ZoomBlog
is a blogging system of its own and as independant as you want it to be.
One of the interesting things about
ZoomBlog is that it offers three administration levels
(easy, intermediate and expert), which results into the ideal platform for those
who are just starting to use blogs, as well as for those who have plenty of experience
and that would like to fully customize and configure their blog any way they like,
integrate it with other external services, etc.
- People who are new to blogs will find a very simple and easy to use administration interface
that includes a basic set of configuration and management tools, yet allowing them to create
wonderful blogs.
- Expert users will have at their fingertips a complete array of options and possibilities -
many of them already offered by similar services, and some others not as common, yet quite useful.
This way ZoomBlog truly is a blogging service
that will offer you at all times whatever you ask from it, no more, no less.

Main Features
|
|
ZoomBlog
offers a vast array of possibilities. Here we mention some of the most
interesting and popular features. Keep in mind however that many of the options mentioned here
are configurable, that is, it depends whether the blog administrator/s activate or not
such features.
NOTE: Many of these features are only accesible by at the "expert" level. If you're new to blogs,
we suggest that you just go and create your blog, selecting the "easy" or "intermediate" levels,
and forget about all the things described in this page. You will have time later on to learn about
these other features, if that's your goal.
- Many default templates to chose from.
- You can create or adapt your own templates or simply modify the existing ones, using
a complete, yet easy to use set of tags.
- Complete and powerful visual editor to compose new posts.
- Classify your posts by categories.
- Complete support for managing, sending and receiving trackbacks and server pings.
- Complete trackback autodiscovery support.
- Publish-by-email or Moblogging support, being able to send by email pictures,
HTML formatted messages, etc.
- Multi-user blogs, where a blog is managed by more than one person, each of them with their own
set of privileges.
- Favorite links management, that you can classify by different categories, as well as
being able to easily integrate your links from services like
Del.icio.us, Bloglines or any other service that supports OPML.
- RSS syndication for posts and coments.
- Integration with the photo service Flickr: add your Flickr pictures to your
posts with just one click from the visual editor.
- Integrated email-list system. If some of your readers would like to receive your posts
(or comments made to them) by email, they can subscribe with the click of a mouse and
you don't have to do a thing (other than previously enabling this feature).
- Comment support: Moderated (or not), allow anonymous comments (or not), filter whatever
HTML tags you'd like, etc. Besides, users subscribed to your blog by email will be able
- if you want and they want - to send comments right from their email software. Commenting on
blog posts has never been easier.
- Noptification management: define who should receive a notification when a new article or comment
is posted, or when a trackback has been received.
- Tag support, along with the ability to define where you'd like your tags to point when
they appear in your blog: ZoomBlog, Technorati, Flickr, Del.icio.us or any other site.
- Open blogs: If you'd like, you could configure your blog so that other people could
submit new articles or posts, and be published in your blog, after being moderated and
accepted by the blog administrator/s, of course. Create a vibrant community where everybody
can contribute.
- Import blogs from other systems such as Blogger.
- Complete access statistics
Plus several other things we're omitting now so as to keep this list not too long...
